We have a wonderful and rare opportunity for a passionate Full-Time Commis Chef to join our talented Kitchen Brigade.

This role is perfect for an enthusiastic chef looking to further develop their skills while working alongside experienced hospitality professionals. You will be responsible for assisting in the effective operation of the kitchen and working collaboratively with the team to deliver exceptional food quality and memorable dining experiences for our guests.

Job Description

The Role...

As a Commis Chef, you will:

• Assist with food production while ensuring consistency, presentation, quality, and adherence to recipes and standards.
• Prepare and cook dishes using correct cooking methods and techniques.
• Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and workplace safety.
• Follow food safety guidelines and GIA procedures relating to food waste management.
• Ensure food supplies are stored, labelled, and rotated correctly to minimise spoilage and support cost control.
• Assist in guiding and supporting junior kitchen team members where required.
• Contribute positively to a professional and collaborative kitchen culture.
• Work across a variety of service periods, including à la carte dining, functions, events, and special occasions.
• Maintain a "Can Do" attitude and consistently deliver high standards of service and quality.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For...

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Commercial Cookery Qualification (Certificate III or IV).
• Previous experience working in a professional kitchen environment.
• Experience working on pans and grill sections.
• Exposure to à la carte dining, functions, and events.
• Strong understanding of food safety and workplace health and safety legislation.
• A genuine passion for hospitality and creating exceptional food experiences.
• A creative flair with strong attention to detail and food presentation.
• Knowledge of current culinary trends and industry best practices.
• A passion for locally sourced and seasonal produce.
• The ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• A willingness to learn, develop, and grow within a professional kitchen brigade.
• The ability to work independently on a section or as part of a larger team.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
