Job Description

We're looking for a talented and passionate Commis to join our dynamic kitchen team in Udaipur, India. As a Commis, you will be an essential part of our culinary operation, working alongside experienced chefs to prepare, arrange, and serve exceptional food that exceeds our guests' expectations. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your culinary skills in a professional kitchen environment while contributing to a collaborative and supportive team dedicated to excellence.

• Prepare and organize your assigned working station and mise en place according to daily requirements and stock lists
• Assist in the preparation, cooking, and plating of all food items according to established culinary standards and recipes
• Maintain exceptional cleanliness and organization of kitchen areas, equipment, and personal workspace at all times
• Follow all ordering procedures and ensure accurate communication with team members regarding orders and service requirements
• Monitor portion sizes and food presentation before dishes are handed to the pass, ensuring consistency with quality standards
• Support the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef in their duties and responsibilities
• Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, supervisors, and team members to ensure smooth service operations
• Report any irregularities, safety concerns, or equipment issues immediately to the Sous Chef or management
• Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation protocols to maintain the highest standards
• Attend training sessions and actively participate in skill development programs
• Demonstrate flexibility by assisting other team members as needed and taking on additional duties as assigned
• Maintain punctuality and professional appearance by wearing the correct uniform and name badge at all times
• Record recipes and techniques in your own reference book for continuous learning
• Ensure familiarity with daily specials, promotions, and menu offerings, including all recipes and ingredients
• Contribute to a positive kitchen culture by working collaboratively and supporting team goals

Qualifications

• Diploma or certification in Culinary Arts or equivalent formal culinary training (required)
• Proven experience working in a 5-star hotel kitchen or relevant hospitality industry experience (required)
• Strong passion for food preparation and culinary excellence
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure kitchen environment while maintaining quality standards
• Exceptional attention to detail and precision in food preparation and plating
• Solid understanding of food safety, hygiene standards, and sanitation protocols
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods while performing repetitive tasks
• Proficiency in following recipes and standardized culinary procedures
• Knowledge of kitchen equipment operation and maintenance
• Willingness to learn new techniques and adapt to evolving culinary practices
• Reliability and punctuality in meeting scheduled shifts
• First aid certification (preferred)
• Experience with mise en place preparation and kitchen organization (preferred)
• Familiarity with food cost control and portion management (preferred)
