The Hoxton is setting up for a major milestone moment as we prepare to open our very first hotel in Australia in the vibrant cultural city of Melbourne. Renowned for its world-class coffee culture, diverse dining, creative and visual arts scenes and being the sports capital of Australia, Melbourne and our new neighbourhood of Cremorne is the perfect home for The Hoxton.

The Hoxton will be part of the historic Matchworks Precinct and will feature 198 guest rooms in the classic Hoxton categories and three exciting food and beverage outlets: The Hoxton’s lobby bar, a destination restaurant with East Asian concept and a speciality bar.

Other features include The Apartment, the brand’s signature meetings & event concept, and a gym for those looking to continue their wellness journey in their home away from home.

We are now looking for a Director of Finance to help us bring this beloved brand to life in partnership with the local creative community.

Job Description

What you’ll do…

• Set up the finance function for a brand-new hotel – chart of accounts, USALI reporting, controls, systems and the team.
• Take ultimate responsibility for accurate records, statutory accounts and reporting; the hotel is self-accounting.
• Own Australian tax and statutory compliance – GST and BAS, FBT, payroll tax, STP, superannuation and the annual audit.
• Lead planning, budgeting and forecasting, and partner the GM on strategy, value opportunities and owner reporting.
• Lead, develop and inspire a high-quality finance team.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for…

• Five plus years of hotel finance experience, ideally already as Financial Controller or Director of Finance.
• CA or CPA qualified, with strong current knowledge of the Australian tax and statutory environment.
• Pre-opening or new-build experience – you’ve set a finance function up, not just inherited one.
• Technical depth across compliance, hotel operations and standard systems.
• Methodical and process-driven, but flexible and creative when it comes to deadlines and solutions.
