Location: Wakefield Junction 41

Salary: 13.87 P/H 20hrs per week 4/7

Job Description

Baxterstorey is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic General Assistant/vending operative, to join our team in Wakefield. In this role, you will provide essential support to our catering and hospitality operations, ensuring smooth day-to-day service delivery. The successful candidate will be organised, efficient, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of customer service and food safety.

  • Assist with food preparation, plating, and presentation in accordance with company standards and health and safety regulations • Support the kitchen and service teams during busy periods, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of work areas, including washing up, stock rotation, and general tidying
  • Assist with serving customers in a friendly and professional manner, taking orders and addressing queries • Handle basic cash transactions and till operations with accuracy and integrity • Support inventory management by checking stock levels and assisting with deliveries • Comply with all food hygiene and health and safety procedures at all times
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure seamless service delivery • Undertake additional duties as required to support the smooth running of operations
  • Driving round site filling vending machines with stock. Cleaning of the machines round site. Taking stock to each area counting what has been taken and used in each area. 

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a hospitality, catering, or food service environment (desirable) • Knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices, or willingness to obtain relevant certification • Strong people skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team • Excellent time keeping and reliability • Physical stamina to work on your feet for extended periods
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards • Basic numeracy skills for handling cash and stock management • Flexibility to work varied shift patterns, including weekends and bank holidays • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and customers • Willingness to learn and develop within a fast-paced environment
