Job Description

The Investment Associate will originate, evaluate, execute and monitor investment grade private credit investments, working closely with investment professionals in Chicago and London to deliver attractive risk-adjusted returns for clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, structure, execute and monitor investment grade private credit investments across a broad range of sectors (e.g., corporates, infrastructure, and alternatives) and transaction types.
  • Assess new investment opportunities through detailed fundamental credit analysis, relative value assessment and downside risk evaluation to identify investments that meet client objectives and portfolio requirements.
  • Partner with investment and credit colleagues in Chicago and London to originate opportunities, develop investment recommendations, prepare investment committee materials and execute transactions that deliver attractive risk-adjusted returns.
  • Support diligence efforts, financial analysis and transaction structuring, including review and negotiation of legal documentation, rating agency considerations and portfolio construction requirements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with borrowers, arrangers, advisors and other market participants to source investment opportunities and enhance market intelligence.
  • Actively monitor portfolio investments, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and recommend appropriate actions to protect client capital and optimize portfolio performance.
  • Manage amendments, waivers, consents and ongoing credit events, ensuring investments continue to meet internal risk standards and client objectives.
  • Contribute to the development of investment strategy by identifying attractive sectors, market themes and relative value opportunities within the private credit market.
  • Support client engagement activities, including portfolio reviews, reporting, marketing initiatives and discussions with prospective investors regarding private credit solutions

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate companies and industries by synthesizing large volumes of information, including financial statements, management materials and third-party research, while identifying the key drivers of risk, value and investment performance.
  • Strong financial analysis skills, including proficiency in interpreting financial statements and building robust, accurate and efficient financial models.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex analyses into clear, concise and compelling investment recommendations.
  • Resourceful, self-motivated and disciplined, with the confidence to develop independent investment views and constructively challenge consensus thinking.
  • Bachelor's Degree with an undergraduate Degree in Finance, Accounting and/or Economics is strongly preferred.
  • Direct experience in credit investing or formal credit training program is preferred.
  • Interest in or progression toward a CFA is preferred.

Additional Information

The starting salary offer will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to the applicant’s education, job-related experience, skills, and abilities, geographic location, and market factors. This position is also eligible to participate in the company’s annual discretionary bonus plan.
