This is a hybrid position located in one of our California offices: San Francisco, Oakland, Los Angeles, or Irvine.

Ramboll is looking for experienced candidates for the full-time position of Acoustical Lead Consultant. This person will work in a challenging and variable environment that will include project execution, client interaction, and detail-oriented independent work. Our team is growing to meet the expanding environmental noise and vibration assessment needs of clients, specifically including California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) environmental noise assessments, across various sectors – infrastructure, data centers, renewable energy, ports, and transportation.

Job Description

As our new Acoustical Lead Consultant, you will be part of a dynamic team providing state-of-the-art scientific, technical, and strategic risk management knowledge to an international client base. Your key tasks and responsibilities will potentially include:

  • Supporting acoustical consulting projects and client relationships
  • Developing and implementing project execution approaches
  • Supporting technical analyses related to environmental noise surveys, sound level analyses, computer modeling (CadnaA, SoundPlan, or similar), and mitigation design/specification
  • Preparing reports and communicating results to clients as well as preparing proposals and fee estimates
  • Critically reviewing and interpreting local, state, provincial, and federal environmental regulations

Qualifications

About you

While we look forward to supporting your continued learning and development, for this role we have identified some qualifications, skills, and capabilities that will set you up for success.

These include:

  • B.S. or M.S. in an Engineering, Science, or Mathematics related major pluse 6 or more years of experience in acoustical consulting, specifically environmental noise assessment; 2 or more years of experience in environmental noise assessments related to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)
  • Practical knowledge of the CEQA environmental review process including, but not limited to, Initial Studies (IS) and Environmental Impact Reports (EIR)
  • LORS (Laws, Ordinances, Regulations, and Standards) assessment experience including California Government Code, municipal codes, General Plan Noise Elements, as well as agencies such as Caltrans and California Energy Commission (CEC).
  • Technical expertise in assessing impacts of commercial and industrial projects related to noise and vibration emissions associated with construction, traffic, and operational activities and in developing feasible mitigation measures.
  • Experience coordinating with CEQA lead agencies.
  • Solid spreadsheet, noise modeling, and software tool skills with strong written and oral communication skills

Helpful Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience delivering acoustical consultation and design across industry sectors such as manufacturing, technology, energy, water, and transportation, via various project delivery methods including design-bid-build and design-build (turnkey)
  • Working familiarity applying acoustical-related industry standards such as ISO and ANSI
  • Demonstrated experience implementing environmental noise assessments in compliance with NEPA or comparable state or international requirements

Salary Transparency Statement

At Ramboll, we are committed to fair and transparent compensation practices that support our people and our purpose of creating sustainable societies. The anticipated base salary range for this position is $82,500 to $107,000 yearly. This range reflects the compensation we reasonably expect to offer at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and internal equity. Because we operate across multiple U.S. markets, pay may differ depending on the cost of labor in specific locations. In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for bonus, overtime or other forms of compensation and we offer a comprehensive benefits package that supports well-being, professional development, and work-life balance.
