Freedom Detox is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Counselor to join our clinical team in Gastonia, NC. This is an opportunity to provide meaningful support to individuals navigating substance use and mental health challenges while helping them take the first steps toward long-term recovery.

What You'll Do

As a Licensed Counselor, you will provide clinical services to clients throughout the detox and recovery process, including:

  • Complete assessments of clients' behavioral, emotional, cognitive, spiritual, and social needs

  • Develop and monitor individualized treatment goals in collaboration with the treatment team

  • Provide individual counseling, family sessions, and therapeutic groups

  • Assist with discharge planning and coordinate appropriate aftercare services

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in the electronic health record

  • Support utilization review activities and insurance authorization requests

  • Provide crisis intervention and help maintain a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment

  • Participate in treatment team meetings and collaborate with medical and clinical staff

  • Assist with program curriculum development, staff training, and implementation of clinical best practices

  • Participate in an on-call rotation as assigned

  • Complete required training and other duties as needed

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Chemical Dependency, or a related field

  • Active North Carolina clinical or associate-level license, or eligibility to obtain/maintain one

Preferred Licensure:

  • LCSWA or LCSW

  • LCASA or LCAS

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in substance use treatment, detox, behavioral health, or mental health

  • Experience providing trauma-informed care

  • Strong clinical documentation and communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team

  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and effective in crisis situations

  • Familiarity with applicable state regulations, accreditation standards, and clinical compliance requirements
