Job Description

As a full-service engineering, design, and construction services firm, Mi-Tech delivers comprehensive, in-house support for utility, infrastructure and heavy civil projects from planning and design through execution. Our multidisciplinary team provides practical, innovative solutions that emphasize cost efficiency, constructability, and long-term value. Founded in 1985, Mi-Tech has built a reputation for excellence in engineering, design, environmental, laboratory, technical, and field support across the many industries we serve. As a proud member of the Michels Family of Companies, Mi-Tech collaborates across our internationally respected roster of construction craft and professionals to deliver integrated, end-to-end solutions that meet the highest standards of quality and performance.

An Oil & Gas Pipeline Design Engineer (PE) is responsible for the design, analysis, and integrity of piping systems that support oil, gas, and water conveyance and transportation operations. This role develops efficient piping layouts, performs hydraulic and stress analyses, reviews P&IDs and isometric drawings, and ensures all systems meet ASME, API, ASTM, and water‑industry standards. The engineer supports fabrication, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting for issues such as flow, pressure, vibration, and corrosion, ensuring full compliance with project requirements and HSE regulations. Must be capable of independently executing the complete pipeline engineering design process, from initial engineering calculations and routing through final construction-ready drawings and specifications, with minimal technical oversight. This is a hands-on, individual-contributor position with direct ownership of engineering deliverables.

Why Mi-Tech Services Inc.?

  • We are committed to hiring the best people and giving them the best equipment.
  • We deliver innovative infrastructure solutions that improve energy distribution, expand connectivity, and create lasting value for the communities around us.
  • Our steady, strategic growth revolves around a commitment to quality. If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right.
  • We are family owned and operated. We work to see each other succeed, not to increase stock market valuation.
  • We invest an average of $5,000 per employee in training each year. We want each of our teams to learn and grow.
  • We believe everyone is responsible for promoting safety, regardless of job title. We are our brothers’ and sisters’ keepers.
  • We are a part of the Michels Family of Companies – one of North America’s largest, most diversified energy and infrastructure construction companies.

Why you?

  • You like to surround yourself with dedicated, genuine, value-driven people.
  • You are up to new challenges and opportunities. You like to learn and try new things.
  • You like to know your efforts are noticed and appreciated.
  • You believe that individual commitment to a group effort is key to success.
  • You want your work to make a tangible difference in people’s lives.

What it takes:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Petroleum, or a closely related engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience, including substantial hands-on oil and/or natural gas pipeline design experience.
  • Demonstrated experience performing detailed engineering design of oil and/or natural gas pipelines, including pipeline routing, alignment sheets, tie-ins, hydraulic calculations, and construction-ready engineering deliverables. Experience with water conveyance or facility piping is beneficial but does not replace direct oil and gas pipeline design experience.
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, and construction drawings
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the US, with the ability to obtain licensure in applicable project jurisdictions and independently prepare, review, and seal engineering documents in accordance with state licensing requirements.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency with relevant engineering design and analysis software; AutoCAD, CADWorx, and CAESAR II experience preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of ASME B31.4, B31.8, and other applicable pipeline engineering codes and standards.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to accommodate occasional travel for meetings, site visits, and short-term construction assignments
  • Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record
