Job Description

OT System Engineer

Infrastructure Tower / Application Tower

ABOUT THE ROLE

AG Solution keeps the IT behind industrial production running — the servers, networks, databases and applications that factories depend on in order to make things. When one of them stops, production stops. That is what makes the work interesting.

As an OT System Engineer you look after those systems for our clients. You pick up the incidents and requests that reach second line, you find out what actually caused a problem rather than just restarting things, and you improve the setup so the same problem does not come back. You deal directly with the people who use the systems, with your Team Lead close by.

You do not need an industrial background. What makes this environment different — how a plant runs, why a change has to wait for a maintenance window — is something we teach you.

TWO TRACKS, ONE ROLE

We work in two teams and you join one of them. We deliberately wrote one job description for both, because good engineers often fit either.

Infrastructure — Windows/Unix servers and clients, virtualization, networks, Active Directory, patching and software deployment, monitoring, backup and restore, hardware.

Applications — SQL and databases above all, plus the production applications built on them: manufacturing execution systems, historians, reporting, and the interfaces that move data between them.

Be solid in one of them. Curiosity about the other is enough to start — a lot of our most interesting problems sit on the line between the two.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Handle second-line incidents, requests and changes for the systems in your scope, within agreed service levels.

  • Get to the actual cause of a problem — following the data from the shop floor, through the interfaces and the database, to the report that showed the wrong number.

  • Keep systems healthy: updates, monitoring, backup checks, planned changes.

  • Automate the repetitive parts. Scripting (PowerShell, Python, SQL, Bash) is how we avoid doing the same thing twice.

  • Talk to clients about their systems, and write down what you learn so the next person is faster.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

You will not tick every box. Nobody does.

  • A technical education, or equivalent hands-on experience.

  • Around two years in IT — system administration, infrastructure, application support, or a service desk you have outgrown. For the applications track, solid SQL counts for more than years.

  • Comfort with scripts: you can read one, change it, and write a simple one yourself.

  • The two things we really screen for — you think structurally, looking for how a system fits together instead of trying things at random; and you fix things before someone asks you to.

  • English for daily work. Portuguese, Spanish or other languages are a plus, not a requirement.

  • Willingness to travel to client sites now and then, and to do planned work outside production hours.

HOURS, SHIFTS AND ON-CALL

Our service runs beyond office hours, so shifts and on-call are part of the job. We would rather you know exactly what that means before you apply.

  • Monday to Friday, two rotating shifts: approximately 07:00–15:00 and 15:00–23:00.

  • Nights, weekends and public holidays are covered by an on-call rota rather than an active shift. When you are on call, you need to be reachable and able to connect.

  • Alongside the rotation there is a daytime slot for project and planned work.

  • Coverage is expected to grow over time — cover the nights as well. Any change to your working hours follows your contract, the collective agreement and local law, with proper notice.

  • Handover at the end of a shift matters to us: the next person should know what is still open.

WHAT YOU GET

  • A proper start: one to two months to learn how we work, and three-four months of on-the-job support before you are expected to run on your own.

  • Real systems at real industrial sites, not a test lab.

  • A route into the other track if you want it, and a Senior Engineer level to grow into.

  • Support for certifications that are relevant to your work.

  • A team that escalates to specialists rather than leaving you stuck.
