Our Games Packaging team is made up of passionate designers who see packaging as more than just a box. It's a powerful storytelling tool that sparks curiosity, creates emotional connections, and brings our brands to life.

From iconic brands like UNO, Pictionary, Scrabble, Magic 8 Ball, and exciting licensed properties, we create packaging that sparks curiosity, tells compelling stories, and brings products to life. If you thrive on collaboration, love solving creative challenges, and want to see your work on shelves across the globe, we'd love to meet you.

Job Description

The Opportunity:

As a Packaging Designer, you'll help shape the visual identity of some of the world's most recognizable games and entertainment brands. From the earliest concept sketches through final production, you'll create packaging, games content and supporting creative assets that connect with consumers and tell a compelling brand story.

You'll collaborate with cross-functional partners across Marketing, Product Design, Engineering, and our Asia development teams to bring innovative ideas to life. Whether you're presenting concepts to leadership, art directing photography, building 3D package mockups, or refining the smallest design detail, you'll play an important role in creating packaging that stands out on shelf and online.

We're looking for a designer who is equal parts creative thinker, visual storyteller, and collaborative teammate—someone who's excited to push ideas forward while balancing business objectives, consumer insights, and production realities.

What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Design innovative packaging from concept through production for Mattel Games brands and licensed properties.
  • Develop compelling visual storytelling that strengthens brand identity and drives consumer engagement.
  • Create packaging and product graphics, digital assets for both retail and e-commerce experiences.
  • Partner with Marketing, Product Design, Engineering, Copywriting, and Brand teams to bring cohesive creative solutions to life.
  • Art direct illustration, retouching, and external creative partners.
  • Create 3D package visualizations and physical mockups to communicate design intent.
  • Collaborate closely with global development teams to ensure design quality from concept through production.
  • Stay connected to consumer, design, entertainment, and cultural trends to inspire fresh creative solutions.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

  • 3+ years of experience in packaging, graphic, or consumer product design.
  • Degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Visual Communication, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Exceptional visual design skills with a strong portfolio demonstrating packaging and brand storytelling.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Experience with 3D visualization tools such as Adobe Dimension, Blender, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of typography, color, composition, and consumer-focused design.
  • Ability to balance creativity with production requirements and business objectives.
  • Comfortable presenting ideas and receiving constructive feedback in a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Curiosity about trends in design, gaming, entertainment, culture, and retail.
  • Passion for creating memorable experiences for consumers through thoughtful design.
