Job Description

The Senior Petroleum Inspector is responsible for conducting and, when required, supervising inspection activities related to petroleum and gas products across various operational environments.

The role ensures that inspection activities are performed accurately and in accordance with applicable procedures, contractual requirements, industry standards, and safety guidelines.

As a senior-level position, the role also provides technical support and guidance to other inspectors and may contribute to the coordination of complex assignments, while maintaining high standards of professionalism, integrity, safety, and client service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare and ensure the availability of the equipment, documentation and resources required for assigned inspection activities.

• Conduct and, when required, supervise inspection assignments in accordance with applicable procedures, industry standards and client requirements.

• Perform inspection and verification activities related to petroleum, gas and other relevant commodities, as applicable.

• Carry out field measurements, quantity assessments and quality verification activities using appropriate methods and equipment.

• Conduct sampling activities while ensuring sample integrity, traceability and safe handling.

• Review inspection results, identify discrepancies or irregularities, and escalate relevant findings in a timely manner.

• Coordinate effectively with clients, operational teams and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the smooth and safe execution of assignments.

• Prepare accurate, clear and timely inspection reports and supporting documentation.

• Provide technical guidance and support to other inspectors and operational teams when required.

• Ensure full compliance with applicable Quality, Health & Safety, Security and Integrity requirements.

• Contribute to continuous improvement and the effective implementation of relevant management systems.

• Perform other duties related to the position as reasonably assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Degree or diploma in Petroleum, Chemical, Industrial Engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline, combined with relevant experience in petroleum inspection; or an equivalent technical qualification supported by substantial practical experience.
• Candidates without a relevant higher-education qualification should have extensive hands-on experience in petroleum inspection, typically 10 years or more.
• Proven experience in petroleum quantity and quality surveys, marine cargo inspection, terminal and storage operations, or other relevant OGC inspection activities is strongly preferred.

Technical Knowledge & skills

• Strong working knowledge of applicable API, API MPMS, ASTM, EI/IP, and other relevant petroleum inspection and measurement standards
• Valid IFIA/TIC Council Petroleum Inspector Certification is required.
• Demonstrated competence in petroleum quantity calculations, tank and vessel gauging, representative sampling, cargo reconciliation, and inspection reporting.
• Working knowledge of ISO-based quality management systems and applicable inspection quality requirements.
• Good proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
