Job Description

“Having worked over 20 years, in both consultancies and council, my experience working at AECOM has been refreshing and motivating" – Dominique Keirens, Technical Director – Water

Come grow with us.

Balancing the world’s need for safe, reliable water with protecting this critical natural resource for the future requires a deep understanding of interconnected systems.

We work with clients across the entire project life cycle — from initial planning studies through final construction and operations and maintenance services — on both traditional and alternative project-delivery options (design-build, public-private partnerships and financing).

With a robust design and construction division, AECOM offers a unique perspective on designing projects that are fully constructible.

How you’ll make a difference

  • Lead the planning, coordination and delivery of civil infrastructure projects, taking responsibility for technical quality, design management, budgets and programme outcomes.
  • Deliver civil design packages across roads, drainage, earthworks, pavements, site infrastructure and associated civil works from concept through to detailed design and construction support.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams to manage interfaces, resolve project constraints and support successful project delivery.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, local authorities and other key stakeholders to deliver practical and innovative engineering solutions.
  • Contribute to design reviews, technical verification, risk management and quality assurance activities.
  • Support project managers and technical leaders in achieving commercial, programme and client outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while contributing to proposal preparation, business development activities and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes you could still be a perfect fit for this role. Please apply, all applications will be considered.

The qualities that help you thrive

  • 6+ years of post-graduate experience in civil engineering and infrastructure design, with demonstrated experience delivering multidisciplinary projects.
  • Strong technical capability across civil infrastructure design, including areas such as roads, drainage, stormwater, earthworks, utilities, pavements and site development.
  • Experience using industry-standard design software such as 12d and AutoCAD.
  • Working knowledge of relevant Australian civil engineering standards, local authority requirements and design guidelines.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and project teams.
  • A collaborative approach and proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary environments.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to balance technical excellence, project outcomes and client expectations.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or progress towards chartership is highly regarded.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

Additional Information

Why you’ll love working with us

  • Flexible work arrangements, including alternative start/finish times, job-sharing and hybrid work options
  • Purchase up to 6 weeks additional annual leave per year
  • Volunteer and representation leave
  • Flex public holidays – swap Easter or other holidays for ones that suit you better

Ready to push the limits of what’s possible?

We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, including those with disabilities, additional health or mental health needs, and/or neurodiverse conditions. If you require any adjustments during the hiring process, please let us know.
