Summary: 

The BHT Trainer is responsible for facilitating Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) onboarding, coordinating training schedules, conducting competency evaluations, and supporting workforce development initiatives at the facility level. This role promotes consistency in training delivery, supports employee development, and assists with ensuring staff are prepared to provide safe, effective, and recovery-oriented client care.

Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:00pm

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with facility and regional leadership to identify training and development needs. 
  • Facilitate Behavioral Health Technician onboarding and other training programs as assigned.
  • Conduct competency evaluations and skills validations for Behavioral Health Technicians. 
  • Coordinate and monitor training enrollments, schedules, materials, equipment, and training resources.
  • Maintain accurate records of trainee attendance, progress, competency evaluations, and training completion.
  • Review, test, and provide feedback regarding onboarding and training materials.
  • Maintain a repository of training materials, competency tools, and educational resources.
  • Conduct employee surveys, observations, and interviews to evaluate training effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Remain current on organizational policies, procedures, and best practices and serve as a resource to trainees during training sessions.
  • Participate in workgroups, performance improvement initiatives, and organizational development activities.
  • Collaborate with BHT departments and training staff to promote consistent delivery of training materials and onboarding practices across company locations.
  • Must exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality with regard to all company information.  
  • Completion of all required trainings as designated by the company and accreditation/licensing entities.  
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Required Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree preferred.
  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience in a residential drug and alcohol treatment setting preferred.

Physical Demands  

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb stairs, use hands to handle objects, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, twist, kneel, or crouch. The employee may occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 25 pounds and seldom carry up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 

Work Environment  

This position operates in behavioral health, residential treatment, healthcare, office, and training environments. Local travel may be required based on operational needs, and employees may be required to provide their own transportation. Employees may interact with individuals experiencing psychiatric, behavioral health, substance use, or crisis-related situations and may encounter exposure to viruses, diseases, infections, and emotionally sensitive or traumatic situations during the course of providing services.
